Biodiesel - What Is It
Wednesday 16th July, 2008

In various parts of the world, different crops are used as the origin for the vegetable smear that is made into Biodiesel. In theory, any vegetable grown can be broken disheartened and converted into Biodiesel, but at present most Biodiesel producers use one basic crop as their source. Biodiesel is ranked as less toxic than mutual salt. Inside of much of Europe, rapeseed is used in the manufacture of Biodiesel. And, in Southeast Asia the most communal plant grown for the production of Biodiesel is Soybeans. Biodiesel can be combined with standard diesel fuel by the producer or the home user can blend it again. The emissions from biodiesel are less hazardous to breathe than that of standard gasoline or diesel.

The widespread employment of biodiesel would benefit those concerned in the company of their nation being less reliant on oil producing nations, environmental problems, and high oil prices.

Biodiesel has a flashpoint of over 125°C (257°F) and as a consequence is less hazardous to store than standard diesel fuel. Within the boundaries of spite of the fact that it is often incorrectly stated, biodiesel and raw vegetable oil are not identical. The procedure of converting vegetable oil into biodiesel is called transesterification.

Biodiesel is a practicable and saleable pick fuel that is available for use in engines at present.

A Textbook Example: Why American Schools Must Go Green
Schools are a black hole for energy consumption. The buildings, which often serve as the hub of communities, are open from early morning to late at night. With air conditioning or heating systems that run continually, it is not unusual for a single building to use hundreds of thousands of gallons of fossil fuel each year. While this energy consumption is a major concern to students, teachers, administrators and the community – who all wish to lessen dependence on fossil fuels – school systems are moving at a glacial pace when it comes to making environmentally conscious decision regarding what technologies should power their facilities.

Cheaper, Better Solar Cell Is Full of Holes
A new low-cost etching technique developed at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory can put a trillion holes in a silicon wafer the size of a compact disc.
